This year’s award season kicked off with a lacklustre Golden Globes awards ceremony. While hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler delivered the funny during their opening monologue, the show overall was poorly paced (they let big winners speak a little longer than they should) so there wasn’t much to look forward to in regards to funny moments.
Nonetheless, here are 10 moments you probably missed during the 72nd Golden Globes:
1. A Cumberbomb
Benedict Cumberbatch, a.k.a. everyone’s sexiest dork of the decade, photobombed Meryl Streep as she gamely posed for an impromptu photo with comedian Margaret Cho who was dressed as a North Korean member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The “Cumberbomb” (thanks, Richard!) had us all in a tizzy because it was one of the many things we wanted to see happen at the Globes this year.
Fun fact: funnily enough, Cho played both North Korean leaders Kim Jong Un and Kim Jong Il on 30 Rock.
2. A Blushing Amal Alamuddin
George Clooney more or less professed his love to his badass human rights lawyer wife Amal Alamuddin while he accepted the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award. On top of that, Georgie boy opted to wear his wedding tux to the event. It was all so cute that I wanted to barf.
Clooney, who was sporting a “Je Suis Charlie” button in reference to those slain in the Charlie Hebdo attacks in Paris last week, dedicated the last bit of his speech to the unity marches that took place all around the world:
“There were millions of people who marched not just in Paris, but around the world. And they were Christians and Jews and Muslims. They were leaders of countries all over the world. And they didn’t march in protest; they marched in support of the idea that we will not walk in fear. We won’t do it. So, Je Suis Charlie. Thank you.”
3. Nailed It
Speaking of Clooney and his powerful wife, Fey and Poehler even managed to touch upon the weirdness that is Hollywood with this joke:

4. Entourage is Definitely Back

The men from Entourage arrived on the Golden Globes red carpet early to film a “special ending” for the movie version of the popular HBO series.
5. Common’s Powerful Speech
After receiving the Best Original Song award for Selma‘s “Glory” from Prince (SURPRISE!), Common delivered a moving speech that touched on the importance of solidarity amongst all people with John Legend by his side. It was more or less a touching freestyle delivered on a glamorous stage.
6. Chrissy Teigen’s Ugly Cry
John Legend’s wife, supermodel and Twitter star Chrissy Teigen, stole the Internet after she was caught on-camera ugly crying while Legend and Common were accepting their award.
7. Jared Leto’s Man Braid
Always on the forefront of the hottest lewks, Jared Leto left the manbun in 2014 and had his gorgeous locks in a braid. I’m just not sure if it beats True Detective director Cary Joji Fukunaga’s “Snoop Dogg” braids at the Emmys.
8. Bill Hader’s WHHHHAAAAATTTT?
When it comes to awkwardly presenting an award, no one does it better than Kristen Wiig — unless Bill Hader is with her, of course. The Skeleton Twins stars presented the award for Best Screenplay (it went to Birdman), giving Hader the chance to deliver his best “WHAATTTTT” ever.
9. Wes Anderson’s acceptance speech
After a bunch of emotionally heavy speeches, Wes Anderson injected a little lightness into the night while he accepted the Best Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) award for The Grand Budapest Hotel. He rattled off a long list of HFPA members in a charming, funny way that only a velvet-bow-tie-wearing Wes Anderson could pull off.
10. Emma Stone’s Eyes
Emma Stone gave the perfect reaction after Fey and Poehler lightly ribbed on the Birdman actress while talking about Tim Burton’s Big Eyes. “One of those famous Big Eye paintings is on display tonight. Let’s check it out,” said Poehler, prompting the cameras to focus onto Stone. Such a doll.
